A 37-YEAR-old who had sex with a girl under 16 has been jailed for eight months.

Gordon Lapsley, of Loney Crescent, Denny, Falkirk was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for 10 years.

Sentence had been deferred last month for a background report after Lapsley, previously of Carnarc Crescent, Inverness admitted the offence which occurred in a house in Culloden on February 14/15 2017.

Defence solicitor Neil Wilson said: “He has a lot of previous convictions but nothing similar to this. He remembers what happened and accepts full responsibility. He is thoroughly ashamed and embarrassed.”
