It looks like celebrity Inverness fan Marti Pellow was back sampling the city's delights yesterday as he turned to social media to confess: 'Just stopped to have my mince and tatties! I had a wonderful time in Inverness working on Popped In Souled Out – it's going to be a special night! I tried to find the Loch Ness monster but no joy there'.

Appropriately, it looks as if Marti gave in to Temptation – one of the tracks from the Wet Wet Wet hit 1987 album Popped In Souled Out, which Marti is about to celebrate in a big new show with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra at the SEC Armadillo on March 26.

In a previous interview when the singer came to play the now-closed Ironworks for the first time last year, Marti revealed he has often in the past headed to the Inverness area to work on shows and albums and when he wants to do some songwriting, as he has friends here.

At the time, Marti said: “I love Inverness, I hold it close to my heart. I was up there only about five weeks ago, I’m up there all the time and I’ve done for the last 12 years.

“The last album that I mixed – I recorded it in Los Angeles and all over the world – I finished it in Inverness.

“By the river Ness has always been a very special place for me. I find I can be very prolific up there, whether I am working on a song or mixing.

“They tell me Inverness is the happiest place in the UK."

And by the look of the famous Pellow smile it looks as if that plate of mince and tatties hit the spot yesterday!
