It’s almost that time of year again as the Highland Business Women Awards is making a return.

Sponsored by Safekab, the annual ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate females excelling in their sectors and making a difference in their community and local economy.

With nine awards up for grabs, there is certainly something for everyone who wants to take part. The prestigious ceremony will take place on Thursday, August 22 at the Drumossie Hotel.

A new award at this year’s ceremony is the individual team contributor excellence award. As the saying goes ‘teamwork makes the dreamwork’ and this award will go to someone who demonstrates exceptional dedication and has acted as a shining example of a team player to the benefit of the wider team.

Self-celebration and nominations are both welcomed for this award and is open to HBW members only.

A returning category at this year’s ceremony is the best third sector award which is open to charities, social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations making a difference in the community.

Last year the award was won by The Calman Trust which aims to enable young people in the Highlands, aged 15-25, who are at risk of being left behind as a result of their personal challenges, to become confident and capable young adults, prepared to manage independent living or a job, and to join in the community, their life chances improved.

Since 1998, the organisation has worked with over 6000 young people, enabling them to prepare for an independent life, work, and community engagement.

Jo Graham of The Calman Trust said: “We were extremely grateful to win the best third sector category. This award and our partnership with Highland Business Women enabled us to reach a broader audience, connecting with individuals who may not have previously been aware of the service we provide to young people.

Emma Glass, president of Highland Business Women added: “Here in the Highlands, we are incredibly lucky to be surrounded by some incredible and inspirational women who are both intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs and excelling in their fields.

“Organisations like HBW are so important in providing a supportive network of like-minded women; our members need a voice, and we are passionate about delivering that for them. We can’t wait to reward and recognise all our finalists and winners on the evening of Thursday, August 22 at the Drumossie Hotel, and we hope to see you there!”

Applications for this year’s Awards will close at midnight on Sunday, June 30 2024.
