The region's biggest arts venue has been pinpointed as one of VisitScotland's hidden haunted locations.

It comes as the national tourism organisation highlighted Inverness in a list of places to visit in the run up to Halloween.

"To assist in choosing the perfect spooky destination, VisitScotland has curated a list of Scotland's hidden haunted hotspots, using data sourced from the Paranormal Activity Database, an encyclopedia that records paranormal activity, to determine how many paranormal sightings have occurred at each location," it stated.

"Inverness offers a captivating blend of Highland charm and mystique, perfect to immerse yourself in Scotland's ghostly tales and supernatural folklore.

"There have been 12 paranormal sightings in Inverness, including at Eden Court Theatre, where multiple hauntings have supposedly occurred: an usher, who was alone at the time, reported feeling a strong tug on her shirt collar; technicians reported witnessing strange ghostly figures standing in the auditorium; and even a small child was seen standing in the wings during a performance.

"For the ultimate ghostly experience, consider the Inverness Ghost Walk tour."

Places in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen, Stirling, Dundee and Dunfermline were also highlighted for anyone who wants to "embrace the Halloween spirit".
