INVERNESS Courier columnist Nicky Marr will help present the annual Inverness Christmas lights switch on ceremony this Sunday.

She will be joined by local DJ Ginno Conti at the event which starts at 5.30pm outside Inverness Town House.

They will be accompanied by stars from the cast of this year’s Eden Court Theatre pantomime Cinderella to entertain the crowd as they listen for the sound of approaching sleigh bells.

Santa is expected to fly in shortly before 6pm to supervise proceedings as Provost Jimmy Gray and competition winner nine-year-old Sophie Sinclair, of Cawdor, push the button that will see the streets of Inverness sparkle into life.

Following the ceremony, Santa and the gang will then lead the crowd down to the Old High Church for the traditional Christmas Carol Concert "Ding Dong Merrily Old High" which will start at 6.30pm.

> Photos from the event will appear in Tuesday's edition of The Inverness Courier.
