Inverness teenager in court charged with double robbery

A 19-year-old man has appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court in connection with two alleged robberies.

Both are said to have occurred in the Inverness area on the evening of Thursday, May 9.

Police Scotland issued a statement shortly afterwards stating that the first incident occurred around 9.40pm in Dores Road where a car was allegedly stolen.

The second incident occurred shortly after, around 9.50pm, at a petrol station in Longman Road where a quantity of cash was allegedly stolen.

Both robberies allegedly involved an imitation firearm and nobody was injured.

William McLeod, from Inverness, made no plea to a total of nine charges: robbery; assault and robbery; two allegations of possessing a firearm; dangerous driving; driving with excess alcohol and failing to obey a police command to stop; driving without a licence or insurance.

He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
