Organiser Anne Thomas put up a post in thanks of supporters: "Thanks everyone for coming. I'm so glad we were able to stand in solidarity with Ukraine and also glad so many Ukrainians came along."

It comes as local efforts are being co-ordinated to assist with what is feared to be an incoming major refugee crisis as people flee the region.

Many are accepting donations of goods like clothing and tents to be shipped out to Ukraine and surrounding countries.
