Inverness event to hear about local opportunity from north Green Freeport

A seminar is being held in Inverness tomorrow (Wed Nov 22) on the creation of a Green Freeport in Inverness and Cromarty Firth and its potential to drive significant sustainable economic and social growth for the Highlands.

Those attending will hear about the potential of the Green Freeport to create new green jobs, while "upholding the highest environmental protections and supporting economic transformation."

Billed as "The local impact of a global opportunity," the event brings together businesses who are part of the supply chain in the Highlands and Islands and beyond, including engineering, hospitality, recruitment, transport and contractors.

It is being held in the Drumossie Hotel beginning at noon and opening with a networking lunch followed by a welcome from energy transformation specialist Rosa Stewart of co-sponsors Mott Macdonald, and Calum MacPherson chief executive of Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport.

There follow presentations by Inverness and Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, Port of Nigg, Port of Cromarty Firth, Port of Inverness, Port of Ardersier and Highland Deephaven

Panel discussions will hear from Fiona Larg, Highlands and Islands Committee chair of Prosper; Rosa Stewart; Iain Sinclair, executive director, Global Energy Group; Audrey McIver, director of Energy Transition and Net Zero, Highlands & Islands Enterprise; and Calum MacPherson.
