COUCH potatoes wanting to get their motors running could find a solution in a former car showroom in the Longman.

Inverness businessman Donald Mackay has been given planning permission to convert the former Arnold Clark Skoda showroom, in Harbour Road, to an Anytime Fitness gym.

The chance for a body overhaul or perhaps fine tuning will be available in September, bringing a state-of-the-art facility 24-hours a day. The health club will have a spacious open plan layout, premium equipment, a packed group exercise timetable and personal training with expert coaches.

Mr Mackay said that as a local, independently owned business, Anytime Fitness Inverness aims to put the local area at the heart of its operations and it has created a number of employment opportunities for local people.

“I’m delighted that we’ve been granted planning permission and it’s another huge step towards our grand opening,” Mr Mackay said.

“We continue to work closely with Highland Council and our local partner MRH Design to finalise the building warrants which will give us the green light for our fit-out and for the club to take shape.”

As part of its commitment to Inverness, Anytime Fitness Inverness and Tesco Ness-side recently raised more than £1000 for local mental health charity Mikeysline with a charity cycling event that saw staff and shoppers rack up miles on exercise bikes.

Emily Stokes, of Mikeysline, said: “We are extremely grateful for the tremendous amount raised. We wish them every success and sincerely thank all concerned for helping to raise both funds and wider awareness about Mikeysline.”

Members of Anytime Fitness Inverness will receive benefits including access to AF Connect Online, a free online member platform with on-demand workouts, wellbeing content and exclusive partner discounts.

Early-bird memberships are now available at the special rate of £28.99 per month. Visit www.anytimefitness.co.uk/inverness and use discount code IVN100 for this limited time offer.
