An Inverness mother-of-three who had a Valium problem picked up three shirts from an Inverness store and walked out without paying.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 34-year-old Nadia Devine, of Glenurquhart Road, had already been at the till of Primark on March 3, 2022 and paid for goods.

But on the way out she lifted three shirts worth £5 each and left to go into another shop.

She was tracked down by a security guard and offered to pay for the stolen goods.

She admitted shoplifting and her lawyer Rory Gowans told Sheriff Gary Aitken that his client was shocked when she learned she had left Primark without paying for the items.

He said: "In 2022, she had a Valium problem but she has been clean now for over a year from illicit substances. She says this will never happen again."

Sheriff Aitken fined Devine £170.
