SHOE retailer Brantano has gone into adminstration, it has been announced.
Around 2000 staff across the UK, including at the Inverness store at Inshes Retail Park, were notified of the decision yesterday.
Joint administrator Pricewaterhousecoopers said Brantano has been hit hard by the change in consumers' shopping habits and changing retail environment.
As well as the store in Inverness, the company also operates 140 shops across the UK, including around 20 shops in Scotland.
It is not yet known how many jobs in Inverness are affected but the business will continue as normal while a strategy is formed by the administrators in the coming weeks.
