An Inverness-shire primary school has been celebrating double glory.

Kirkhill Primary School pupils have received a Digital Schools Scotland award and a Social Enterprise Schools start-up award.

The Digital Schools award is from a national scheme which aims to promote the use of digital technology in classrooms.

Pupils at the school won the Social Enterprise Schools title for selling slushies and pick n mixes on sports day at the school. The profits then went to a worthy cause.

The pupils raised £240 in total from their drinks and sweetie sales.

Principal teacher Sara Cockburn said: “It’s absolutely amazing. The children and staff work so hard, so it is so rewarding to see it pay off.

“The pupils are very excited. For the digital award we have a group of digital leaders and they are so excited.”

In order to achieve the Digital Schools Scotland award the school had to incorporate digital technology into lessons and the pupils had to be confident in using digital technology themselves.
