An Inverness-shire couple have been crowned the Highland and Islands Food & Drink ambassadors for 2023.

Owners of Good Highland Food, Yvonne and Mike Crook received the prestigious accolade at the annual Highlands and Islands Food & Drink Awards at the Kingsmills Hotel, which celebrate the talent, quality and diversity across food, drink and hospitality in the Highlands and Islands.

Speaking about what the award means to them, Yvonne said: "The largest part of this award goes to Mike for his tireless work and passion for working with local producers with local stories.

"One night in November 2003, almost 20 years ago to the day, over a Highland fine cheese board, and a brainstorm fuelled by a nice glass of wine, Mike and I registered goodhighlandfood.com.

"During covid it was a chance for us to reflect and to consider the future of Good Highland Food, which is wider than business growth.

"Our passion is the community we work with, the Highlands as a destination and a commitment to using local producers and creating the best local food and drink experiences we can.

"The success of Highland Good Food and this recognition for Mike and I as Highland food and drink ambassadors would simply not be possible without the fantastic array of Highland food and drink producers and the community we are all a part of. So tonight we are celebrating this award on behalf of you. Thank you."
