An Inverness man spat at a police officer after being being taken down with pepper spray, a court has heard.

Jack Drummond (19) lashed out at officers who were looking for him in relation to another matter on April 30 last year.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair told Inverness Sheriff Court that police traced the accused to Kessock Point around 18.20 on the day when he ran away from them.

One of the officers deployed PAVA spray and he was handcuffed after running back at officers making gestures that he wanted to fight them.

Drummond, of Craigton Avenue, admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and cuplably and recklessly spitting at a police officer carrying out their duty.

Sentence was deferred for the preparation of a background report.

Drummond was released on bail meantime.
