A woman was threatened and called derogatory names.

Barry Williamson (31), of Maple Drive, Inverness, admitted sending texts and a five-minute voice message received by his former partner at 7.15am on February 13.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard witnesses reported his behaviour and he made a full admission to the police when questioned about it.

Sheriff Gary Aitken asked the defence: “Why did he feel it appropriate to send those messages?”

He told Williamson he should be “thoroughly ashamed of himself” and that it was only due to his good behaviour in the past months that he was not asking for more information on him with potential for a stiffer sentence.

Williamson was fined £500.
