A SALES assistant has been fined £300 for being under the influence of cannabis while behind the wheel.

Struan Macdonald (22) of Newton Park, Kirkhill, was found to have 3.7mcg of the Class B drug per litre of blood when police spoke to him on March 21 last year. The legal limit is two mcg.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard he was found by a mobile patrol at 11.30am on Clachnaharry Road.

He was given 10 penalty points which, under totting up rules, means he is disqualified from driving for six months.
