A man was repeatedly punched on the head during the attack, captured on CCTV.

Dale Standen (28) admitted committing the attack in Church Street, Inverness on September 15, 2020.

Fiscal depute Shamela Ghafar told Inverness Sheriff Court: “It was 5.10pm when police were informed about an assault on Church Street.

“CCTV showed the accused running away from the locus.

“The accused was traced a short distance away.”

The court heard Standen, of Drumossie Road, Inverness, was seen walking past his victim before doubling back and punching him several times to the face.

Mr Smith was taken to Raigmore Hospital with tenderness to his face and a cut above one eye.

Defence Rory Gowans said his client had been under the influence of "substances" at the time of the offence.
