A row over misplaced keys lead an Inverness man to assault his own mother.

Stephen Chisholm (37) had got into an argument over the missing items with his partner Kimberley Cruickshank at their home in Carnac Crescent.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard this led him to go out drinking with a family friend.

Meanwhile Miss Cruickshank decided to seek comfort from Chisholm's mother Caroline Mitchell.

Fiscal depute Shamiela Ghafar said: “Around the afternoon on Saturday June 25 (2022) witness Kimberley Cruickshank and the accused were in the property.

“They had a minor argument about misplaced keys which resulted in the accused going out for drinks with a family friend.”

When Chisholm returned to the family home later he found his partner and his mother in the living room and began shouting and swearing.

The fiscal said: “The accused pushed his mother causing her to fall over a coffee table.”

The pair managed to get Chisholm, of Thornbank Road, outside where he continued to bang on the windows and shouting and swearing

Sentence on Chisholm, who appeared on undertaking to admit assault and threatening and abusive behaviour, was deferred for six months.

He must stay out of any trouble during this period.
