INVERNESS SHERIFF COURT: Man spared jail over drunken argument

A man has been spared jail for an "alcohol fuelled" argument with a partner.

Jason Mackaskill (44) admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner on the night in question when he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The court was told he had been drinking with a woman at a property in Assynt Road on October 1 this year when he started an argument which quickly escalated.

He repeatedly shout and swore at the woman and when he was ejected from the property he banged on the door and attempted to regain entry despite being told he was not welcome.

Defence agent Rory Gowans said groundworker Mackaskill, now of Blair Grove, accepted that he had "been in the wrong".

Sheriff Gary Aitken imposed a community payback order with a supervision requirement of 12 months as a direct alternative to a custodial sentence,
