A MAN has been jailed for four months for stealing gin from a supermarket.

William Gillespie (36) stole two bottles of alcohol from the Co-op store in Telford Street, Inverness on July 5.

Gillespie, who is currently serving a 12-month sentence for other matters, appeared via video link at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The court heard Gillespie, originally of the city’s Kirk Brae, had been on bail when he committed the theft.

His solicitor, Clare Russell, said he had been struggling with drug and alcohol dependency at the time but was now clean.
