An Inverness-shire man has been fined £720 and banned from driving for 12 months after cannabis was found in his system while driving.

Lewis Gordon (27), who works for a family run forestry business, was stopped on February 25 last year.

Officers found him driving on the A862 Inverness to Adullie road at Station Road, Beauly.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told he was stopped after police decided to run a check on his vehicle.

A drugs test was carried out and his saliva tested positive for cannabis.

Defence agent Rory Gowans said his client, from Upperton, Balnain Drumnadrochit, was "ordinarily hard working".

The solicitor added: "He accepts culpability."
