Police searched a man after seeing him swallowing something and then placing a Covid mask over his mouth.

Officers were in Anderson Street, Inverness, where 44-year-old Mark Lennan lives, on February 8, 2021 when they saw him walking towards the city centre.

Fiscal depute Emma MacEwan told Inverness Sheriff Court: "On seeing the police, he reached into his jacket and popped something into his mouth.

"He then put on a mask. He was stopped and searched and £140 worth of cocaine was found."

Defence solicitor advocate Neil Wilson said: "He has an intermittent drug problem. There are occasions when he looks dreadful and others when he looks better. He presents well today."

Lennan was fined £420 after admitting possession of a controlled substance.
