INVERNESS SHERIFF COURT: Air rifle charge is denied

A man is to go on trial accused of sending threatening and abusive messages to the Scottish Government’s agricultural office.
Prosecutors allege that Christopher Barclay, of Fortrose, made or sent a variety of abusive communications to the farming and rural department between July 7, 2020 and January 14 last year.
The charge states that this involved sending emails, phone calls and videos.
Barclay (39) also faced a charge of possession of an air rifle without a licence on June 21 last year and possession of cannabis on January 20 in the same year.
All the charges are alleged to have happened at Barclay’s home address.
However, in his letter to the court pleading not guilty to all three charges, it was stated that Barclay now lives in Dubai.
Trial dates were set for later this year and he was ordained to appear.
