Inverness secondary pupils set to return to classrooms today in wake of snow woe – though some school transport is affected

A NUMBER of secondary schools serving Inverness WILL be open today though bus services are being hampered by the weather.

Charleston Academy posted: "Charleston Academy will be open to pupils and staff (Wednesday 18) who feel they can travel safely.

"The history prelim will be delayed until 9:40am to account for any travel disruption. There is significant disruption to bus services this morning due to the weather:

  • No bus will serve Moniak Bridge.
  • The Hughton bus will start at Kiltarlity village hall at 8am.
  • Foxhole will start at Megstone bus stop just outside Kiltarlity at 8am.
  • The feeder bus to Wester Balblair will not operate.
  • The feeder bus to Beauly Square will not operate.

"Please travel safely!"

Inverness Royal Academy is open too but faces transport diffiuclties.

It posted: "The school will be open today. Although there was not a lot of snow overnight please exercise care on your way to school."

Its bus services are also affected with a review planned for 8am today.

Millburn Academy is also open.

It posted: "Millburn Academy is open today. School transport is running and we plan to proceed with scheduled prelims. Please travel only if it is safe to do so."

Culloden Academy confirmed on its social media pages it too will be open.

It said: "Culloden Academy is open as normal today. Please take care on roads and pavements around the school as they are icy. Stagecoach Buses will be running as normal but may be delayed due to road conditions. The D&E Nairnside bus is able to operate its normal route."

Glen Urquhart High School is due to open an hour later.

Some schools have yet to post their status via social media though most have a variety of communication channels with parents and carers, including Highland Council's school closure website which is updated from 7am each day.
