An Inverness salon led the way at the British Hairdressing Awards, by picking up three major awards.

Ego Hair Design took home hairdresser of the year, men’s hairdresser of the year, and British artistic team of the year.

Owner Caroline Sanderson and stylist Barry Lachlan were named Scottish hairdresser of the year and British men’s hairdresser of the year, while the salon’s creative team won British artistic team of the year.

TV personality Rylan Clark presented the team with their trophies.

Judged anonymously by more than 100 leading hairdressers – including celebrity stylists, session stylists, salon owners, and previous winners – the north firm fought off competition from some of the UK’s most successful businesses to claim three trophies.

Ms Sanderson, who has just published her second book, Mindset Magic and Miracles, said: “I am so proud to take these awards back to the Highlands of Scotland.

“To be the first-ever Scottish salon to have win British artistic team of the year in its history is an incredible achievement for the team and I am so proud of them. I teach my team to really believe in what they can achieve and this is proof that the mindful work we do really pays off.”

Mr Lachlan, who picked up the men’s hairdresser of the year award, said: “I never thought this would ever happen, I want to thank every mentor I’ve ever had and especially the team at Ego Hair Design for giving me this opportunity to achieve a life-long career dream.”

Event organiser Jayne Lewis-Orr said: “These awards recognise the very best of British hairdressing talent, celebrating the passion, artistry and expertise of individuals from across the country.”

He added, the accolades demonstrated that Ego Hair Design has accomplished and gifted stylists with an impeccable eye for detail, insisting the competition gets tougher each time.
