Highland Business Suites has purchased Marr House at the city’s Beechwood business park from a London company.

Managing director Henry Dow is delighted to add Marr House, with 3500 sq ft of business space, to The Green House, the firm’s nearby 20,000 sq ft premises.

Julie Lister, Mr Dow’s daughter and a director of the family company, has played a key role in the development of the Green House, and she will head up the marketing and administration of the new building.

Ms Lister has welcomed the first tenant, Ross Macdonald and his team from Inverness financial services firm Macdonald Partnership.

“We have been refurbishing Marr House in to six new office suites,” she said.

“It’s an excellent acquisition and we’ve found that despite the ‘working from home’ trend, businesses increasingly want premises to base themselves in, with the latest IT facilities, where they can network and liaise with clients.

“We currently have 18 businesses based in the Green House, so we required more office space and Marr House fits the bill extremely well.”

Mr Dow said: “Control of the company is increasingly passing into Julie’s hands as I’m confident in her capabilities and I know she’ll make a great success of Marr House.

“There is a strong resurgence of demand for office space in Inverness, which is good news for the city and its forward economic prospects in this challenging environment. We’re playing our part in meeting that demand and remaining a local family business has been central to our growth.”

He added: “We have a strong team behind us with Marie Hunter and Barrie Forbes heading up our front of house team and newly recruited Nikki Falconer as finance assistant.”

In 2014, The Green House was acquired from Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
