A CITY centre pizza restaurant and takeaway has been given planning permission to expand into the shop next door to provide much more seating.

Cheese and Tomatin, in 10 Stephen’s Brae, was offered the chance to lease number 12, formerly Eastgate Pets which has moved to other premises.

It is a ready made “takeaway” premises for owners Lisa and Tim Allan of Tomatin.

There is already a door connecting the two premises and any alterations to the shop will be entirely cosmetic. Cooking will only be carried out in the existing kitchen.

Space in number 10’s Snug area seats only seven, but with next door there will be seating for about 20 more, Lisa said.

She added: “It is brilliant getting next door and we hope to open this weekend. We have a staff of five in Inverness where Denise Sorvetti and her family from Naples run the show.”

Cheese and Tomatin major on traditional Neapolitan-style pizza made in a wood-fired oven using a home-made, yeast-free sourdough base and Napoli sauce. Its own “natural starter” is used on the pizza bases.

A planning condition is that there can be no cooking next door without written consent.
