The renowned Inverness Music Festival 2024 is ready to kick off later today (March 7), after receiving over 300 entries for what is sure to be "another successful year" for the festival.

Taking place at the Inverness Methodist Church on Huntly Street, the musical event will see performers compete in classes including traditional music, vocal, speech and dancing.

The festival is taking place between March 7 to 10 and March 15 to 17, finishing off with a Highlights Concert on 24 March at 2pm.

Event organiser, Jason McClurg said: “It’s my second year in the chairperson seat and after last years success, I am absolutely delighted that we are returning to our new ‘home’ at the Methodist Church. On behalf of myself and the whole committee I would like to thank Rev Andy Bryer and the Church Leadership Team for having us and being so welcoming and accommodating.

"It’s been another busy year of planning and preparing by our fantastic committee and once again my huge thanks goes to each and every one of them, without their commitment and dedication the festival would never run.

"We have well over 300 entries this year, showing that our numbers are continually increasing post-pandemic which is wonderful to see! I’m looking forward to seeing all of our participants and another successful year for the Festival”

Although the festival is not ticketed, organisers of the charity event would very much welcome a donation of £3 per spectator.
