An argument over a man’s alcohol consumption resulted in him attacking his partner.

John Gunn (29), of Telford Street in Inverness, lunged towards the woman on August 2, 2021 and she hit her head on a wall, Inverness Sheriff Court was told.

Fiscal depute Emily Hood then said that Gunn grabbed her neck, adding: “There was a slight pressure but he quickly released her before he seized her again by the body and twisted her arm.”

Gunn admitted assault to injury although the court heard he denied to social workers certain aspects of the violence.

Defence solicitor Duncan Henderson said: “He was drunk and his position is he is unclear what happened.”

Gunn was placed on a community payback order with a year’s social work supervision and must carry out 300 hours of unpaid work.
