A Post Office worker became suspicious after receiving a parcel which smelt strongly of cannabis.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that police were called to open the parcel and found 106g of cannabis inside with a street value of £2425.

Officers then traced the man who had dropped off the parcel at Tesco Extra, at Inshes Retail Park on February 2, 2022 and 50-year-old Brian Davidson was charged with being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

Davidson, of Spey Avenue, Inverness appeared at the city's sheriff court and admitted the offence which occurred between January 6, 2022 and February 2, 2022.

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans told Sheriff Robert Frazer: "He was in a very dark place at the time and was using cannabis to block things out. He was funding his own habit by selling cannabis which had got out of control."

Davidson was ordered to carry out 150 hours of unpaid community work.
