AN Inverness man who had more than £6000 worth of cocaine in his home has been spared a jail sentence.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told Ryan Taylor’s property in King Duncan’s Road was searched by police on June 3 last year.

They found nine wraps, each weighing 14 grams, with a maximum street value of around £6300.

The 25-year-old admitted possession with intent to supply.

Solicitor Graham Mann said: “It was a short-lived involvement and misguided. He has taken steps to stay away from drugs.

“It is not an insignificant amount but there are issues here – an unstable relationship, substance abuse and mental health. I hope to persuade the court away from a custodial sentence and to impose unpaid work and perhaps supervision.”

Sheriff Margaret Neilson ordered Taylor to carry out 230 hours of work as an alternative to custody and remain under social work supervision for 18 months.
