A 20-year-old Inverness man who got involved in a city centre fight was tackled by nearby pub door staff.

But Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Jack Drummond had to be restrained to the ground in Union Street and continued to struggle with the stewards before police arrived.

The incident happened at about 8pm on November 19, last year and defence solicitor John MacColl said his client did not start the fight.

Drummond, of Craigton Avenue, admitted conducting himself in a disorderly manner. He was fined £600.

Mr MacColl added: "He is in a steady relationship, his partner is pregnant and he has got himself a job as a landscaper.

"She has been a positive influence on him and I am hopeful these factors will lead him down a different path than the one he was hitherto on."

Drummond left the dock, saying: "See you." Sheriff Gary Aitken replied: "I hope not."
