A 22-year-old man who was released on bail from Inverness Sheriff Court last Thursday was back in the dock the following day.

Gavin Hampton’s defence solicitor Rory Gowans told Sheriff Gary Aitken that his client returned to his Gilbert Street home in Inverness to find it broken into and items stolen.

He said that a woman there made an offensive remark to him and he pushed her on the neck.

Hampton admitted an assault charge.

Mr Gowans said that Hampton needed some support so Sheriff Aitken deferred sentence until August 19 for a background report. But he remanded Hampton in custody.
