A man who was ejected from a local bar because he was drunk returned home without his partner.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that when Craig Lobban's girlfriend came back to the property in Culduthel Avenue, Inverness an hour afterwards on July 31, last year, he became aggressive.

Fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh told Sheriff Gordon Fleetwood: "He pulled her from the bed and punched her on the head repeatedly.

"Police received an anonymous call saying that a woman could be heard screaming from the house and it had gone on for 20 minutes.

"Police attended, the woman was crying and upset and had a black eye. She is supportive of a non-harassment order."

Lobban (35) of Mackintosh Road, Inverness was ordered to carry out 135 hours of unpaid community work after admitting the assault to injury.

He was also banned from contacting his ex for the next two years.
