A dumbbell that was thrown out of a window put members of the public potentially in harms way, a court has been told.

The weight ended up getting caught in a Venetian blind and was suspended in mid-air from the windowpane of the property on Miller Street, Inverness, on July 9, 2021.

It had been thrown by David Williamson (41) from inside the dwelling the city's sheriff court was told.

Williamson, of Braeburn House, Croy, previously admitted acting in a culpable and reckless manner by throwing the item "to the risk of injury" to others.

He also admitted behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards two police constables and assaulting one of them.

The court heard that incident took place on May 29 2021 on Fairfield Road.

He challenged the pair to a fight, uttered threats of violence, pushed one of the PCs on the body and attempted to headbutt the other.

Defence agent Graham Mann said alcohol and poor mental health had played a part in his client's behaviour.

Sheriff Robert Frazer imposed a community payback order with supervision for one year and 100 hours of unpaid work in the community.
