Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald heard the case at Inverness Sheriff Court.

A sheriff told a thief who stole his mother’s TV set “it was a pretty rotten thing to do”.

Sheriff Elidh Macdonald then asked 42-year-old James Wilson of Union Street, Inverness: “You and she have made up?”

Wilson replied: “Yes”.

Sheriff Macdonald said: “Good on her. No more of this nonsense.

“I will defer sentence for six months for your good behaviour.

“If you are then I will treat you leniently.”

Wilson appeared from custody on a warrant and admitted stealing the TV from the Brown Street property in Inverness on November 7, 2021.

The court heard he went to his mother’s house to get the TV, and asked a neighbour to give him a lift with it to his accommodation. Wilson will return for sentencing on October 19.
