Inverness set to host the another significant pro-independence gathering

The Alba Party looks set to stage its spring conference at Eden Court in Inverness on Saturday May 13.

The news was revealed in a Tweet by MP Neale Hanvey welcome Cameron McNeish left the SNP to join the Alba Party.

Mr Hanvey wrote: "The warmest of welcomes to the Alba Party Cameron (and to everyone else below).

"Hope you can make it to Spring conference in Inverness at the Eden Court. A finer venue for a party on the rise you could not find!"

The SNP under Alex Salmond staged a famously successful conference at the venue back in 2011.

It took place not long after securing its famous a majority in Holyrood that paved the way for the 2014 independence referendum.

More recently the Alba Party launched its Scottish Parliament election campaign for the Highland candidates there.
