Two Inverness hotels, the Kingsmills and Ness Walk (The Kingsmills Group) teamed up today (Tues April 18) to tackle a litter pick along the banks of the River Ness.

Armed with professional equipment from Highland Council, the team planned this event to coincide with Earth Week 2023, a week amplifying inspiration and action worldwide and culminating in Earth Day on Saturday April 22.

The team including associates and managers, ventured along Ness Walk, Bught Road and through the Ness Islands, part of the Great Glen Way, and along the way attracted much praise from locals and tourists alike with lots of well-wishes and words of encouragement.

Local event host and all-life coach, Nicky Marr, was one of the many who stopped to thank the team, Tweeting: “Great to see teams from @kingsmillshotel and @_NessWalk out on a litter pick on the banks of the Ness this morning. Fab work, and what a day for it!” along with a photo of operations director Craig Ewan in action.

The litter pick was organised by the hotels' human resources team who were inspired to give back to the community while bringing the team together. Taking time to tidy the beautiful banks of the River Ness that Ness Walk proudly sits alongside, the group involved associates from across multiple departments and included Kingsmills Hotel manager Shona Calder and Ness Walk’s deputy manager Christopher Kelly.

Angus Macleod, marketing manager Kingsmills Hotel Group said: "The hotels are planning to schedule litter picks regularly as a way to get associates together, give back to the local area, keep the conversation about the environment open, and enjoy the great outdoors.

"This year, Ness Walk is committed to providing a luxury guest experience whilst preserving and enriching the beautiful Scottish Highlands, our home.

"The hotel hopes to inspire locals and visitors to the Highlands to make conscious choices to ensure they ‘tread lightly’ and enjoy the best of Highland Hospitality, guilt free."
