A new venture promoting Highland products has made an unexpected Cotswolds connection, thanks to the Courier.

Our story about A Whale of a Time, a new service from Inverness PR agency Whale-like-fish, which brings together a selection of goods and products from 23 firms across the Highlands and Islands in a range of curated gift boxes, was read by Cradlehall resident John Mackenzie, who in turned shared it with his son, Alistair.

A commercial airline pilot for the last 12 years, Alistair recently set up a new business venture during lockdown, The Produce Market, from his home in Moreton-in-Marsh in the Cotswolds..

The article prompted Alistair to get in touch with Whale-like-fish co-founders Helen Ross and Eilidh Marshall, resulting in a collaboration which will see the Whale of a Time gift boxes sold on The Produce Market in exchange for PR support from the Inverness firm.

“Like many people this year, lockdown has given me the opportunity to start something new and something that I am passionate about, “ Alistair explained.

“ I set up The Produce Market with my wife, Hannah, to support small independent British businesses producing and selling the best of British food and drink in an ever-increasing online orientated world. Much like a traditional farmers’ market, The Produce Market is an online platform where each seller has a store to showcase their products.

“From here buyers can purchase their products, contact sellers directly or visit their website and social media. We take no commission from our sellers, so everything goes directly to these small businesses and into our local communities around the country.

“Because I grew up in Inverness, we obviously want to support the Highlands and Islands as much as possible and showcase the amazing food and drink produced here.

“So, when I read about A Whale of a Time in the Inverness Courier, I got in touch with Helen and Eilidh straight away.”

Helen added: “I would say this as a PR professional for 20 years, but this collaboration with Alistair highlights the power of PR. It just took one article in the Inverness Courier to start what we hope will be a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship.

“The Produce Market is on the same mission as A Whale of a Time. It’s about celebrating and supporting fantastic independent producers and encouraging people to buy local.”

The Produce Market’s selection of products, including A Whale of a Time’s gift sets, can be seen at www.theproducemarket.co.uk

There are eight boxes in the A Whale of a Time range, including family, craft, tea and whisky sets.
