POLICE on mobile patrol decided to stop a vehicle they saw being driven in an erratic manner and then accelerating sharply.

Officers observed it turning into Dell Road in the Hilton area of Inverness at about 6.20pm on August 21 last year and brought it to a halt.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the driver was 49-year-old David Scott of Shore Street, Inverness, who was subsequently tested for drugs.

A test for cannabis proved positive.

The court was told his reading was 10mcgs when the safe limit for driving is 2mcgs.

Scott admitted a charge of drug driving and was fined £220 and banned from the road for 14 months.

Defence solicitor advocate Neil Wilson said: “He was smoking cannabis occasionally but no longer uses it.”
