MYXD has been bought over.

A popular Inverness-based cocktail specialist has been bought over and will now see its manufacturing process relocated to Dunnet Bay Distillery in Caithness.

Having only been on the market for a short period of time, MYXD was snapped up by Highland businessman John Murray and Moray businessman, Royce Clark, who have partnered with Dunnet Bay Distillery – makers of Rock Rose Gin – to increase the distribution of the premium drink.

While the current offering of 19 hand-crafted cocktails will continue to be produced to fulfil existing demand, the new owners intend to replace the mainstream spirits that are currently used in the mixes, with Scottish produce. This will see the likes of Rock Rose Gin, Holy Grass Vodka and Map makers Rum form the base for the cocktail recipes.

Speaking about the new venture, Mr Clark said: "We are all excited about taking an already well-known, locally established brand and improving on the current range of products.

"Our vision is to have as much of the cocktails ingredients made in Scotland, as we can, and promote that here in Scotland, across the whole of the UK and internationally."

MYXD cocktails are packaged in pouches, so the new owners are keen to promote this selling point as the Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) continues to play havoc for hospitality venues.

Mr Clark added: "The current situation in the hospitality sector with DRS on the horizon, combined with general staff shortages makes MYXD an attractive and easy option for operators who wish to offer a premium cocktail product, eliminate wastage and return great profit margins."

The selling of MYXD was overseen by Inverness-based business broker Simon Fraser.
