Inverness cubs build on chance to learn about road safety
A SPECIAL visit from a large construction and haulage vehicle sparked excitement among the 7th Inverness Cubs from Kirkhill.
Breedon took the machine to Kirkhill Community Centre and helped teach the kids how to look out for other road users, particularly those on bikes or scooters, helping them to complete some of the requirements for their road safety badges.
Special visibility mats were placed on the ground to demonstrate areas where drivers can see road users behind them.
Cub Scout leader Claire Bradley said: “The cubs were thrilled to hear from Breedon about the vehicle’s mirrors and cameras, and to see for themselves what is visible from the driver’s position. The cubs also completed a short quiz provided by Breedon to further reinforce the vehicle’s blind spots and the hazards to cyclists.
“The cubs are now better skilled to use the road safely around large vehicles and got information to share at home and a hi-viz vest to use. We are grateful to Breedon for giving up their time and for a memorable experience.”
