An Inverness car company is gearing up to attract the younger motorist by opening a new showroom selling quality second-hand cars with affordable prices, aimed primarily at the 20-35 age group.

Dicksons of Inverness is launching the new showroom under the name CARZAR in mid-July across the road from the existing Dicksons showroom in Carsegate Road.

The company is also working on an app where potential buyers can browse available vehicles and apply for finance on their phones. It hopes that this will be up and running soon.

The ambitious new venture will be managed by car industry veteran Sharif Sheen, who has moved his family from the Midlands to the Highlands.

Sharif has worked in the motor industry for 25 years, and fell in love with the Highlands after being invited here by Fraser Bryce, managing director at Dicksons of Inverness.

Fraser said: “Young people have to an extent been left behind by rising vehicle prices, so we thought we should create an opportunity for them to buy a quality car from a reputable dealer and arrange finance at their leisure.

"Or they can come in and browse some of the top-quality vehicles we will have in the showroom.

“I am delighted that Sharif has agreed to manage this exciting new venture and his know-how and experience will be invaluable for our customers and staff members.”

Sharif said: “I’ve known Fraser for several years and he asked me to look into a new venture Dicksons was planning.

“I drove up to the Highlands with my wife and fell in love with the area immediately. The children all love it too and we have now bought a house in Beauly.”
