Inverness city centre performance will mark eve of the Northern Meeting Piping Competitions tonight

The High Street in Inverness will come alive tonight with a public performance of pipers and drummers to mark the eve of a historic event.

The Pipes and Drums of the Queen's Own Highlanders Regimental Association will be in the city centre tonight at 8pm near the Town House following a reception to mark the start of the Northern Meeting Piping Competitions taking place in Eden Court on Thursday and Friday.

Competitors from as far as Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA will attend the competitions, with some of the world's top pipers taking part.
