POLICE have urged supporters attending the Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle derby tomorrow to enjoy themselves - but to do so responsibly.

Kick-off for the clash in Dingwall is at 3pm.

Police Commander, Superintendent Colin Gough, said: "The majority of fans will be there to enjoy the match and want to do so in a safe and secure environment.

"To assist in this we will have officers patrolling Inverness and Dingwall before, during and after the match checking licensed premises to maintain order whilst ensuring fans get to the stadium safely.

"Please remember that officers will be working closely with stewards at the Global Energy Stadium, Dingwall, and supporters who come to the ground drunk, create disorder or attempt to bring in pyrotechnics will not be permitted entry to the stadium and may be arrested and spend New Year in our care.

"Also given the increased traffic on the roads at this time of the year I would encourage travelling fans to drive safely and give themselves plenty of time for their journey.

"We are also advising fans attending the match to be aware of the Met Office's Yellow Be Aware Warning for rain that covers much of the Highland area. Please check local weather reports for updates and drive to the conditions of the road when travelling."

David O'Connor, Ross County's operations manager, added: "Saturday's home fixture against Inverness CT as a derby match is one of the highlights of the season.

"We look forward to welcoming all supporters at this festive season fixture and whilst the vast majority will come to enjoy the football, any who have other motives will not receive the same welcome.

"Ross County reserves the right to refuse entry to the ground to those who have previously been involved in misconduct or where we suspect that is an individual or group intent.

"Our staff will work closely with Police Scotland to make it an enjoyable and safe fixture".
