A night out in Inverness ended abruptly for a construction company boss when door staff decided to eject him because he was being "too boisterous".

Joshua Glass, of Aignish Drive, Inverness was socialising with his partner and friends in R&B, in Church Street, on December 11, 2021.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the 24-year-old businessman "flared up" when stewards wanted him to leave the premises.

Fiscal depute Naomi Duffy-Welsh said: "He butted the steward to the head, he was restrained and then ejected. He told police it was self-defence."

Defence solicitor Rory Gowans said: "I don't think very many questions were asked by the door staff but he should have just let them take him out. Alcohol is no excuse."

Glass admitted the assault and Sheriff Sara Matheson fined him £580.
