STAGECOACH Highlands has revealed an update on changes to timetables around Inverness which they say include improved cross-city connections.

The changes to bus timetables will be from Monday, June 28, 2021.

Stagecoach Highlands said: "Following the completion of the infrastructure improvements in Inverness a number of revisions are to be made to the bus services in the city offering better links to the Raigmore, UHI and the Retail Park.

"A new service, X12, will operate as a limited stop service connecting Nairn with the Retail Park, UHI, Raigmore and the city centre.

"Connections from the north of the city will also benefit from the revision with services from Beauly and Muir of Ord extending to Raigmore and the Retail Park."

The infrastructure improvements are changes to bus priority at the bus station as well as more services using the bus/bike/pedestrian only bridge (over the rail line) between UHI Campus and the Retail Park.

David Beaton, managing director for Stagecoach Highland said: “The latest timetable change will be welcome news to many of our customers with the bus priority improvements at the bus station cutting journey times.

"This is in addition to more services using the bus priority between UHI Campus and the Retail Park, again improving bus journey times across the city."

“I’m extremely proud of the way our team across the Highlands has worked together to ensure that we can continue to deliver our services in the most challenging of times.”

Because of the continuing Covid situation, Stagecoach has taken extensive action to protect the safety of its customers and staff with a number of additional measures in place including enhanced cleaning regimes. Stagecoach added: "Contactless payments are being encouraged wherever possible and customers are urged to plan their trip in advance, avoiding peak times where possible. Social distancing measures remain in place on board the buses across the Highlands and customers are encouraged to wear a face covering for the duration of their journey, unless exempt.

"Customers can also check how busy the bus is likely to be before it arrives at the stop using the free Stagecoach mobile app."
