Inverness City Centre Business Improvement District has announced Alasdair Christie has been appointed as a new co-opted director to the Inverness BID board

Mr Christie is currently the leader of the opposition in Highland Council as well as the general manager of the Inverness Badenoch and Strathspey Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) but he will not be representing either organisation on the board.

Highland Council is only allocated one position on the board, which is already taken by Inverness leader Councillor Ian Brown. So Mr Christie's appointment has been made and will be undertaken in his capacity as a private citizen.

BID Chair, Peter Strachan said “The BID board are ecstatic that someone of Mr Christie’s calibre who has the extensive knowledge, skills and experience which we deem will add value to our organisation has agreed to become the newest BID Director.

“We all very much look forward to working with Mr Christie going forward and deem that this is great news for our businesses and also for the wider City Centre community.”

Mr Christie said: “I am delighted to be joining the Inverness City Centre BID board and as chief executive of Inverness CAB which employs over 20 staff that work in the city centre I take a keen interest in policies and initiatives that improve our city and I look forward to working with BID and the business community.”
