Inverness Business Improvement District (BID) has issued an appeal for people to support local businesses following the coronavirus lockdown.

Many city businesses closed due to the pandemic.

As some are preparing to reopen, Inverness BID described local business as "the lifeline of our community".

A spokesman for Inverness BID said: "As our city centre businesses start to reopen please remember they have just gone through one of the hardest challenges they have ever faced.

"Please be understanding of the changes that they have had to make – lost employees, new policies and protocols – they are doing their best to adapt to the situation but everything is different.

"While they are excited to reopen, the staff and owners may be stressed and worried.

"Be kind, be compassionate, be patient.

"Your support of local businesses is appreciated more than ever. Thank you for supporting local."
