A Nairn man who attacked the bar manager of a popular Inverness pub will be sentenced on September 18 after a background report has been prepared.

Ryan McFarlane (28), of Bridge Street, admitted the assault and threatening behaviour at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The incident occurred in the King's Highway, in Church Street, on September 6 last year when McFarlane was refused service because of his intoxication.

Fiscal depute Robert Weir told Sheriff Ian Cruickshank: "He picked up a glass of alcohol and threw it at the manager and challenged him to fight.

"He swore at him and took an aggressive stance then he spat on his face before pushing him on the body into display boarding and on to the ground."
